Purplera1n’s jailbreak now available for  both Windows and Intel Mac computers to unlock the iPhone 3GS. By jailbreak-ing, iphone 3GS owners can download Cydia in their iPhone which helps them to install unofficial applications.

What is good in Jailbreak-ing?

Once you have Cydia (like App Store) installed on your device, you may continue to install UltraSn0w that unlocks the iPhone 3GS. The benefit is users now can choose any service provider’s SIM card on their iPhone without getting stuck by selected service provider’s locked iPhone.

As per dev team blog, “those unlucky users who updated iPhone 3.1 SDK before may not be able to unlock their iPhone.”
