Do you want everyone know where in the world actually you are? Use Google Latitude as this service can let you and your friends share locations with each other. Earlier this year Google had launched this service and many mobile devices started supporting except iPhone. Now Latitude is available for iPhone too.
How to start using Latitude in iPhone?
Its as simple as visiting google.com/latitude from your iPhone to start using Latitude. No application is required to download from Appstore as Apple requested Google to release Latitude as a web application in order to avoid conflicts with inbuilt Maps on the iPhone.
How to bookmark Latitude to your homepage if wish to access quickly and regularly?
Just open Latitude in Safari and tap the + icon > Add to Home Screen > Add.
Privacy
You can also manually set your whereabouts using Latitude by modifying your privacy settings, instead of detecting your location automatically.
You can also make custom settings for each friends in your network. Unfortunately, if your Boss is in your network you may want to sometimes hide him or select “Share only city level location”.
What is not good with Latitude on iPhone?
Since Latitude is browser based in iPhone, it does not run in the background and hence continuous location tracking is not possible like in Blackberry and other mobile OS. So the workaround is to launch the Latitude using Safari and it gets updated with your current location. This is also good in a way you can save $$ for your data plan
