Price for the second generation Kindle has been dropped to $299. This price slash will tempt many people to get the latest generation Kindle and start reading e-books. Also, Amazon expects more units will be sold along with their huge collections of e-books. According to Amazon “We’ve been able to increase the volume of Kindles we’re manufacturing and decrease the cost of doing so,”.

By reducing the Amazon Kindle’s price could be their first step to introduce advertising in the e-books.. To some people, displaying ads while reading will be annoying. However, ad will be inserted only if you agree to buy the free e-book option (I guess). As per MediaPost ” U.S. Patent Office applications filed by Amazon show the Seattle company might be moving toward an ad-supported model that could lower the price of electronic books.”

Will existing users pay the price for these devices to get the upgrade version with Camera? Why would you want a camera powered iPod in the first place when you are already carrying a phone with a camera (in most cases it’s true).
